Counselling in Deeping St James

Person-centred counselling in Deeping St James

If you are looking for a counsellor in Deeping St James or the surrounding areas, I offer warm, confidential, person-centred counselling from my dedicated private practice in Deeping St James, Lincolnshire. I specialise in working with adults who are carrying the lasting effects of a difficult or challenging childhood, and the anxiety, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties that so often come with it.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, or simply a feeling that something isn’t right, I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of things and find your way forward.

Are any of these familiar?

You lie awake at night, your mind racing with worry you can’t switch off

  • You second-guess yourself constantly, never feeling quite good enough – and you’re not entirely sure when that started
  • Something from your past is showing up in your present in ways you can’t fully explain
  • You’re tired in a way that’s hard to explain. You manage. You hold it together. But it costs you.
  • You just want to feel like yourself again

If any of this resonates, you’re in the right place.

How I can help

I’m Fran Slater, a qualified NCPS-accredited person-centred counsellor with over 5 years of experience working with adults. I specialise in working with people who are carrying the lasting effects of a difficult or challenging childhood – though many people I work with wouldn’t use that word for what they went through. I offer sessions from my dedicated private practice in Deeping St James, welcoming clients from Peterborough, Stamford, Bourne, Spalding and the surrounding areas.

Person-centred means exactly what it sounds like: you are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, not to tell you what to do or how to feel. Together we’ll explore what’s going on for you, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and work towards you feeling more like yourself again.

NHS talking therapies can be really valuable, but waiting times can be long and the number of sessions is often limited. Private counselling gives you more flexibility – you can usually start sooner, work at your own pace, and continue for as long as feels right for you. There are no referrals needed and no waiting list. If you are looking specifically for a counsellor with experience of the lasting effects of a difficult or challenging childhood – including anxiety, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties – this is the work I specialise in. If you’re ready to take that step, I’d love to hear from you.
